"Arthur Unravels" is the first half of the eighth episode in the fourteenth season of Arthur.
Summary
Grandma Thora teaches Arthur how to knit, but he's embarrassed about anyone knowing about his knitting and tries to hide it.
Plot
The Beginning takes place in a jungle with Arthur, Buster and Binky searching for the temple of King Zut Hamado. Arthur accidentally leans on a tower rock which makes the temple of King Zut Hamado appear. King Zut Hamado appears and starts chasing them.
The trio reach a cliff and they didn't know how to get across. Buster and Binky thought that if they had a scarf they would be saved.
Arthur pulls out a scarf with a knitting needle in it, but puts it back in his backpack and says, "Yeah too bad we don't have a scarf". King Zut Hamado appears and is about to attack them. {Title Card}
It's raining at Grandma Thora's and Arthur and D.W. are watching a movie, but the movie skipped all the way back to the beginning. Grandma Thora is knitting a piece a fabric and D.W. thinks she's using a ball of string, but it's really yarn.
Thora is making a sweater and says that knitting is not really hard and shows D.W. how to knit. Thora decided Arthur should start learning how to knit to, but Arthur thinks knitting is boring.
Thora explains that there was a book about a women using knitting as a code which transmits secret messages. Arthur imagines about this and he changes his mind and decides to learn how to knit.
Later, Arthur is still in the living room knitting and it stopped raining. Arthur was neither making a hat or a scarf. Arthur wonder if they had purple yarn, but they didn't, luckily Grandma Thora knew just where to get some.
They all went to The Yarn Yurt store. Arthur looked on a shelve and saw some yarn and was just about to grab it until Dr. Fredrick Fugue grabbed it. Arthur was surprised to see him. Arthur took one and thought it was a pink ball of yarn, but Fugue explained it wasn't pink it's Fuchsia and explained what that was.
Arthur then bought the Fuchsia yarn and decided to leave. Just when he left the store and saw Binky coming. Arthur was nervous and pretend to act like he was doing something and he saw a poster paper hanging on it which was a Dog Walker Living Yoga Instructor and pulled a tag off of it.
Binky wondered why he needed a Living Dog Walker/ Yoga Instructor. Arthur said he'll never know why. Binky noticed the bag in Arthur's hand from the Yarn Yurt and asked him did he bought something. Arthur said it was something for his Grandma. (Unfinished)
Trivia
- Contary to popular belief, some boys do knit as shown in the now a word from us kids section in this episode and in the episode too.
- Madame Defarge was a villainous character in "A Tale of Two Cities".
