Lance Armstrong is a bicyclist who survived cancer early in his career and went on to become one of the most successful bicycle racers ever, winning the Tour de France seven times.
He visits Elwood City during the Bike-a-Thon, and gives Binky tips about how to advocate for the creation of more bike lanes in town.
Later, Binky gives Francine Lance Armstrong's email address, because she is worried about Mrs. MacGrady's cancer. Lance Armstrong and Francine go on a bike ride where he talks about his battle against cancer and how important the support of family and friends was. Francine organizes the "Pedal for a Cure" fundraiser, in which Armstrong participates.

Behind the scenes[]
In 2012, a doping scandal caused Armstrong to be stripped of his former victories. Episodes featuring Armstrong have rarely been seen on television since then.
On March 8, 2021, a revised version of "The Great MacGrady" was released where the fictional Uncle Slam Wilson replaces Armstrong. Prior to this, the original version of “The Great MacGrady” had not aired nationally on PBS since August 20, 2012.
Per his blacklisted status, Armstrong does not appear on the list of celebrity guests at the page for the Arthur TV show at the Marc Brown Studios website.
