As of season 12, Mei Lin claimed that 18% and 16% of characters on the show were pets and babies, respectively. "Mei Lin Takes a Stand"

In Season 6, "The Secret Life of Dogs and Babies" introduces the new concept of the secret world of dogs and babies conversing with one another, unbeknownst to the rest of the world. Since then, there have been several scenes and entire episodes in which babies, pets and other animals can speak with each other. Baby Kate, Pal, Nemo, Mei Lin, Amigo and Killer are often involved. Typically these characters will hear babble when listening to regular characters speaking. This list does not include episodes with Nadine, who can also speak with these characters.
