Luke Reid Brandon, credited as Luke Reid,[1][2][3] (born January 11, 1984) is a Canadian actor. He was the first voice actor for Alan Powers (Brain), voicing the character from seasons 1 through 4 (38 episodes). He is also credited for performing the Jekyll and Hyde song in "Arthur's Almost Live Not Real Music Festival."
Brandon was one of the least experienced child voice actors when he was cast for Arthur; however, similar to Michael Yarmush and his role as the voice of Arthur Read, the crew members believed his voice suited Brain. The fact that Brain was originally meant to be a minor character influenced their decision. Brandon's role was notably more difficult to perform sufficiently than most other actors, with Peter Huggan commenting that "...Luke had to rhyme off a lot of science tech jargon which was tough for any voice actor."[4]
Brandon last recorded for Arthur around 1999 for season 4 because his voice deepened. Steven Crowder assumed the role of Brain beginning with season 5. Brandon's last acting appearance was in the sci-fi series, The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne in 2000.[5]
