  • I am going on a break from here for a while, but I still wish to have my rollback and admin rights, and I will still be doing The Arthur Wiki Newsletter monthly, as well as making the occasional edit.

I left a more detailed message on Scrooge200's wall, including reasons why I wish to take a break. You can see it here.

    • Completely understood and its one of the reasons I've vanished from here. Not entirely vanished, as I still patrol the site. IDK what it is that causes this site to be like this. Maybe its the background of the site. Feel free to take time off, I'll assist Scrooge200 in patrolling.

    • Thanks.

I'm sure that this break is only temporary, but I do need to take some time off from here (aside from the times that I do a new issue of The Arthur Wiki Newsletter), and then come back once I'm ready to, whenever that is. Maybe by then, some of the problems will be resolved. Maybe. One can hope for that.

      I hope so too.

  • Me and BrutalBear98 are trying to figure out if there should be a change to the "Villains" category. Should there be a split in the category to have a Villains category and an Antagonists category, or should there only be one category? Because some of the characters in the Villains category aren't really villains, but fit the antagonists description better.

Here is the thread where we are discussing it. I hope to hear from you soon.

I believe antagonists will work better. The characters in Arthur, I can't really consider them to be evil or villains in that retrospect. Everyone in Elwood City generally gets along with one another in some form.

    • Okay, thanks for your input! I'll get to work on changing the category very soon, ASAP.

  • I just wanted to let you know that I have temporarily disabled Article Comments here. The reason I disabled them is because the comments have been a constant target for spam over the past year or so, and I also feel in my opinion that having them on the site has been causing more harm than good. They may get re-enabled down the road, but for the time being, I think that they should remain disabled.

Also, this is something that I've been wanting to get off my chest for a while, but I kind of wish that Arthur Wiki would have some more people willing to be administrators or at least moderators here. I feel like I'm one of the only ones here (except for you and Scrooge200) that actually takes care of spam or vandalism or sockpuppets, and I can't just sit on the site all day and night being vigilant, because I also have other things in real life to do that are important. Please don't take what I'm saying the wrong way; I'm very happy to be an admin here, and I'm not resigning from my position or anything like that. It's just that I wish more users would step up and want to help out and become admins or moderators, that's all. Just some extra assistance, because I feel like I'm starting to burn out, which isn't a good thing.

Well, anyways, I just wanted to let you know about these things. I hope that you have a wonderful kind of day, Caesar.

I actually agree with you and its something that has straight up pissed me off for many years. It's been one of the many issues that has plagued this site for a long time. I mean it wasn't this bad when I started out ten years ago, but once people started leaving (only one user in the past ten years has let everyone know that they're leaving/stepping down and that was Annawantimes).

I tried to leave years ago, but something always pulled me back in. People stepping down and leaving unexpectedly has basically left this site in a situation where no one is around to replace the individuals who were once there, it's become a growing pain. So yes, I understand where you're coming from and it sucks to be honest.

As for the article comments, you're right. Cause right now, everyone is just posting this is the end of Arthur, Season 23 is the end, etc, and its getting ridiculous. So I support your decision. I'm sorry you have to go through this, I had went through for it a decade and there is a lot of past users who I'm not fond of because of it, 5000 believe it or not isn't one of them, along with a couple exceptions.

    • I have an idea that could potentially solve the issue of the lack of wiki "staff", so to speak: Perhaps we could do something like recruit new people to be moderators or administrators. I have a few users in mind, but I would have to ask them if they wanted to be admins or mods or not.

And ever since I disabled the article comments, the level of spam here has gone way down, and I'm no longer stressed out about the wiki either. The site seems to get less views, but hey, if having the article comments turned off eliminates most of the spam, then I think it's a good move.

(PS: I see that you have recently updated your profile here. Do you no longer wish to be called Caesar? Also, what does "2021 will be the end of the line" mean? Just wondering.)

I've noticed less activity, but sometimes you gotta make tough decisions for the bottom line. That's why I'm not too upset so many people had an issue with me years ago. That's just how it is.

Also I'm pretty much being open about myself and 2021 might be my last run on FANDOM in general, but we will see what happens.

Something always drags me back. Right now my energy is focused on this site, Daniel Tiger, and Jungle Emperor, with the latter I'd like to finish out my tenure on FANDOM.

  • Hey there, Caesar. I was wondering if we should delete these two pages, since they haven't been used in years and they kind of make the wiki look outdated:

Arthur Wiki:Vandalism Statistics Board/Vandalism Report (Hasn't been used since late 2011; Also, people can report vandalism to the admins here.)

Arthur Wiki:Featured Content Voting (Hasn't been used in a really long time, and I don't think it's necessary to have such a feature here.)

    What are your thoughts?

    -Arthur Read fan

      Loading editor
    • Yes, eliminate them. The Vandalism Statisitcs Board was hardly used anyway and I didn't even know the "Featured Content Voting" page existed and I've been on the wiki on and off for ten years.

You know what's funny? I didn't know that the Featured Content Voting page existed either until recently. I'll delete those pages right now.

  • Hey. It's me, Arthur Read fan.

Back around mid-2019, User:Fgdgfncmvndg45 vandalized the wiki, and of course, was blocked for infinite. Well, since then, this user has been creating sockpuppet accounts to get around their ban. I've identified 7-8 of them:

    User:Sgfhdydhdgcdhhfhdg45

    User:Pamwalker45

    User:Tripples888 (potentially)

    User:Bbvbvvvdffbbgfv45

    User:Tylervega5

    User:Marceljones33

    User:Jessiefox70

User:Afdjfdasjdfjfdjfs45 (this is the user's latest sock account.)

In all of this user's sock accounts, he creates mischief for the wiki. Some of the accounts upload spam images of characters' shoes, some others replace perfectly fine screenshots with ones that either do not relate to the episode at all or have extremely poor quality, and still others create spam user blogs, undo good edits with poor grammar, and etc.

This is a real problem. I wonder if we should contact FANDOM staff, Community Central, or the VSTF about this. We could also enable something similar to what Simpsons Wiki has, an Abuse filter, which can automatically block any new accounts from the IP address that these sock accounts are coming from.

Either way, I wanted to let you know about this. Have a wonderful kind of day!

    • If you feel its out of control, contact the staff. However, if you're able to manage, don't worry about contacting them. Only do so when it becomes excessive to the point you have to constantly refresh and see vandalism every second.

    • Thanks for the advice, Caesar.

On Saturday, I had contacted FANDOM staff about this issue. I'm still waiting to hear back from them, though. Obviously, they will get back to me soon, probably within this next week. I will also continue to block any new sock account that that user makes.

  • Hey, Caesar. This is Arthur Read fan.

I hope you're doing all right, especially during the crisis in the world right now.

I was wondering if you have heard about the upcoming changes being made at FANDOM. Pretty soon, all of FANDOM's wikis will be moving to a new platform, which is called the UCP (short for Unified Community Platform). The goal is to unify all of FANDOM / Wikia's wikis and Gamepedia (owned by FANDOM)'s wikis on one new singular platform. Already, new wikis are only being made on the new platform, and pretty soon, older wikis like this one will be moving as well.

I am also planning on letting all of the users and other admins on here know about these upcoming changes via a reboot of the Arthur Wiki Newsletter, which I am hoping to launch next Monday.

I hope you have a wonderful kind of day!

    • Now I've heard of it. Interesting turn of events.

        Loading editor
    • Oh yeah, I forgot to mention (unless you already know about this): Special:Forum is also being retired along with these changes. Discussions are basically the successor for this feature. I've been wondering if Arthur Wiki should introduce Discussions in advance of the shutdown of Forums, like some wikis have done already (i.e. Encyclopedia SpongeBobia).

Blogs are also still up in the air. I'm hoping that FANDOM decides to keep this feature (same with Achievements / Badges).

  • Hey, Caesar. This is Arthur Read fan.

I am reporting User:RockLesnarDay, who also has two sock accounts, User:BrckLesnarDay and User:CkLesnar. All three accounts have been posting spam comments on the "Nerves of Steal" episode page. Here's the full list:

    Talk:Nerves of Steal/@comment-44912681-20200122230836

    Talk:Nerves of Steal/@comment-45154123-20200302210021

Thanks in advance, and have a wonderful kind of day!

(PS: By the way, could I please have your opinion on this?

Arthur Wiki:Request for Administrator/Arthur Read fan

I have been doing really well here as a rollback, and I think (and know) that I would make a great admin here. But if the position isn't currently open, then I totally understand. I just wanted your thoughts on my user rights request.)
