Navy Versus the Night Worm was an old movie mentioned in "Arthur's First Sleepover" that Brain used to be scared of when he was younger. Arthur and Buster find it funny that the movie scared him, only to become scared themselves of the shadow of a caterpillar walking over their camping lamp.

- The title could be a reference to The Navy vs. the Night Monsters, a film from 1966 in which the monsters are carnivorous trees.
- In a later episode, "War of the Worms", Fern successfully fools Brain into thinking that giant worms are indeed real and live in Elwood City. The movie might be the reason why the prank worked so well.
