Season 7 of Arthur premiered in the United States on October 8, 2002, on PBS with the episode "Cast Away," and ended on November 29, 2002, with "April 9th."[1] The special "Arthur - It's Only Rock 'n' Roll" served as its premiere.

Lakewood Elementary has been chosen to put on a musical tribute for Elwood City's centennial. However, Francine hasn't arrived and a prop is accidentally destroyed. In the interstitial, Arthur and a few of his friends talk to Larry King about their centennial production. In the second half, the show goes on without Francine. When she arrives with the destroyed prop, Buster, in a makeshift alien costume, enters onstage unscripted and entertains much of the bored audience. The entire production is deemed ruined as he accidentally tears the backdrop, but it goes on better than expected as they realize that the audience enjoyed Buster's stunt. | ||||

The Reads have to replace their car because it would cost too much to fix. Arthur is attached to the car and fights to keep it from being sold to the mechanic. D.W. finds that her snowball has returned (from "D.W.'s Snow Mystery"). She keeps it at her bedside to prevent it from being stolen again, but it starts to melt. When Arthur doesn't answer to the accusations of his snowball theft, D.W. tricks Brain to come over and investigate, only to discover that it isn't actually her snowball. | ||||

It's April 9th, but the day goes awry when a fire breaks out at Lakewood Elementary, forcing the school to close. Buster is devastated that he slept in and didn't experience it (however, he ends up forming a friendship with Mr. Morris, the janitor). The kids are sent to Mighty Mountain School while Lakewood undergoes repairs. Binky pulls the fire alarm because of his fear of the flames at the burning school. When Arthur fakes an illness, his dad finds out that Arthur is worried about him because he was initially trapped in the school during the fire. He helps him see that it's his job to worry about Arthur. Sue Ellen gets a new diary from Muffy (her old one being ruined in the fire). Soon, the kids return to Lakewood. |

- This is the first season for a few things:
- The first season to feature Mark Rendall as the voice of Arthur, replacing Justin Bradley.
- Rendall also redubbed Bradley's dialogue for Season 6 when it went into syndication in the U.S.
- The first season in which Jason Szwimer voices D.W., succeeding Oliver Grainger.
- The first season in which Alex Hood voices Brain, succeeding Steven Crowder.
- The first season to have two-part episodes, and the only season to date to have more than one two-part episode in a season.
- This is the first season to use the PBS Kids Fishbowl and PBS Kids Snowglobe logos.
- The first season to feature Mark Rendall as the voice of Arthur, replacing Justin Bradley.
