Season 7 of Arthur premiered on PBS in the United States on October 8, 2002,[1] with "Cast Away/The Great Sock Mystery." It concluded on November 29, 2002,[1] with "April 9th."

The TV special "Arthur - It's Only Rock 'n' Roll" aired one month before this season premiered, with its debut on September 1, 2002.

This season was released on DVD in Region 1 in late 2006.

D.W. is grumpy because one of her socks is missing. Pal investigates and stumbles upon the sock market, which supposedly helps the economy. He and Kate team up to play the sock market to get D.W.'s sock back.

Francine's bowling tournament and her cousin Seth's bar mitzvah are being held at the same time. Her friends try to help her so that she can attend both at once, but she is eventually caught by her parents.

Muffy goes with Sue Ellen to Crown City, which Muffy thinks is a glamorous metropolis of high culture. However, her trip is nothing like she imagined it would be. It's a dump there!

Arthur is doing a science project on ants to prove that he has PANTS by being patient, attentive, nosy, thoughtful, and systematic. However, all but one of his ants escape from the ant farm and are now loose in his house. After he tries various ways to collect them, he accidentally ruins Francine's project.

Muffy is starting an advice column and dreams of becoming famous like Hoprah Linseed, but everyone is listening to another advice-giver. After she finds out that it is Molly, she starts acting like her so that she can rival her in giving advice. Molly advises Muffy that she needs to be a better listener in order to be a better advice-giver.

Lakewood Elementary has been chosen to put on a musical tribute for Elwood City's centennial. However, Francine hasn't arrived and a prop is accidentally destroyed. In the interstitial, Arthur and a few of his friends talk to Larry King about their centennial production. In the second half, the show goes on without Francine. When she arrives with the destroyed prop, Buster, in a makeshift alien costume, enters onstage unscripted and entertains much of the bored audience. The entire production is deemed ruined as he accidentally tears the backdrop, but it goes on better than expected as they realize that the audience enjoyed his stunt.
"Pick a Car, Any Car" 99B 101 6a November 25, 2002
The Reads have to replace their car because it would cost too much to fix. Arthur is attached to it and fights to keep it from being sold to the mechanic. He makes a call to Car Talk, hoping they will know how to fix it. Tom and Ray Magliozzi (the Car Talk guys) guest star as Click and Clack Tappet from Car Talk.

Jenna is reluctant to go to Muffy's annual slumber party because she still wets the bed. She decides to go and has a great time while trying to keep herself from needing to use her pull-up when she sleeps.

D.W. is sick of being younger than Arthur. In a dream, she travels through time and changes it so that she is born first and him second. After a time travel mishap, she realizes how much she appreciates having an older sibling.

After a field trip to Amish country to see how they live, Buster wants to live like them. However, his Amish lifestyle clashes with that of the city and he has only himself to help him with that lifestyle.

Binky had already failed Mr. Ratburn class once and went to the sleepover at the Science Museum. This year, they're going again and he's just as bored as he was the first time. Interested in a new, unopened exhibit, he sneaks in when everyone else is asleep.

Arthur and D.W. face the ultimate challenge when their mom gets a bad cold and then (gulp!) gives it to [[David Read]|their dad]]! What if Arthur has to take over his dad's catering business and how would D.W. be an accountant if she can't count past ten? And most importantly, how will they raise Kate all by themselves?

Prunella is inviting Marina over for a Henry Skreever themed sleepover. However, she worries that Marina may not see the decorations in her room or might get injured because she is blind.

D.W. finds that her snowball has returned (from "D.W.'s Snow Mystery"). She keeps it at her bedside to prevent it from being stolen again, but it starts to melt. When Arthur doesn't answer to the accusations of his snowball theft, D.W. tricks Alan to come over and investigate, only to discover that it isn't actually her snowball.
"April 9th" 105A/105B 105 10 November 29, 2002
It's April 9th, but the day goes awry when a fire breaks out at Lakewood Elementary, forcing it to close. Buster is devastated that he slept in and didn't experience it (however, he ends up forming a friendship with Mr. Morris, the janitor). The kids are sent to Mighty Mountain School while Lakewood undergoes repairs. Binky pulls the fire alarm because of his fear of the fire at the burning school. When Arthur fakes an illness, his dad finds out that he is worried about him because he was initially trapped in the school during the fire. He helps him see that it's his job to worry about Arthur. Sue Ellen gets a new diary from Muffy (her old one being ruined in the fire). Soon, the kids return to Lakewood.

  • Greg Bailey went down to WGBH in Boston in fall 2001, after the 9/11 attacks, for this season to have a script pitch session, and the artistic part of production started three to four months after that in Montreal, Canada. Meaning the script pitch session took place at the same time the previous season began airing.[3]
  • This season was released on a 4-disc DVD set in Region 1 in late 2006, under the title Arthur: Sleepovers, Sports and More.
