The Ratburn Rats were a rock band that Mr. Ratburn used to play in and probably founded. One of their songs contained the lyrics, "I'm a sewer rat!". The band members' clothes and hairdos suggest that they were active in the 1980s.

In the episode "The Buster Report" Binky does a report on Mr. Ratburn and finds a picture and a music video of the band which he shows to the class much to Mr. Ratburn's embarrassment.
The name may be a reference to The Boomtown Rats.
