Vincent Willem van Gogh (3/3/1853 – 7/29/1890) was a Dutch painter, best known for his post-impressionist work.
Van Gogh worked as an art dealer and missionary before becoming an artist. During his lifetime, he was unsuccessful and suffered from psychotic episodes, which eventually led him to commit suicide. During the 20th century his work became famous and he is nowadays considered one of the most influential figures in the history of Western art.
Vincent van Gogh appears in a fantasy in the episode “Framed!”, where he and his real-world friend Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec give Buster tips on painting portraits. His portrayal is based on a 1889 self-portrait with a bear's nose and ears.
