| Arthur Timothy Read — Arthur is an 8-year-old aardvark in 3rd grade. The best part about him is, he's just a normal kid, so everyone can relate with him. He wears a yellow sweater and his signature round brown glasses.

| Dora Winifred "D.W" Read — D.W. is Arthur's younger sister, and the middle child in her family. She is 4 years old and in preschool. She is known for her many short-lived obsessions and tantrums if these obsessions are not fulfilled. Though she can be annoying to Arthur, she is the main character of her own set of episodes. She wears a pink dress.

| Shelley "Binky" Barnes — Binky is a 9-year-old yellow bulldog who is repeating third grade. He is the leader of a group of bullies called the Tough Customers. Though he can sometimes be a bully, he does have a soft side. He is especially known to enjoy the arts, such as playing clarinet and dancing ballet. He is allergic to peanuts. He became a big brother when his family adopted a baby girl from China. He wears an orange shirt and blue pants.

| Alan "The Brain" Powers — Brain is an 8-year-old brown bear of Senegalese descent. He excels both academically and athletically. He is obsessed with overachieving academically and fears that he will fail assignments. Brain occasionally works in the ice cream parlor that is owned by his parents. He wears a gray sweater.

| Buster Baxter — Buster is an8-yrear-old white rabbit. He isArthur's best friend and is generally happy and creative, with a good sense of humor. | Fern Walters — Fern is an 8-year-old gray dog in 3rd grade. She enjoys reading poetry and novels (especially Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie). She also writes her own poems and stories, holds group poetry readings at the library, and is an amateur detective. Fern is usually a very shy and nervous person. Fern's mother is constantly trying to get Fern to become more extroverted. Even Fern herself sometimes worries she is "too quiet". She wears a purple blouse and has a red bow on her head.

| Francine Alice Frensky — Francine is an 8-year-old brown monkey in 3rd grade. She is a great athlete and hopes to be in the Olympics. She can be competitive at times. She wears a red sweater and has yellow barrettes in her hair.

| George Lundgren — George is an 8 year old moose of Swedish descent. He is seen daydreaming often and it is revealed in season 6 that he has dyslexia. He is bullied by the Tough Customers. He is also feared because of his nosebleeds and his clumsiness. Despite this, he is capable of building items such as marionettes as well as winning talent contests by bouncing on a pogo stick. He wears an orange shirt and khaki pants.

| Mary Alice "Muffy" Crosswire — Muffy is an 8 year old light-orange monkey and is Francine's best friend. She is the spoiled daughter of a wealthy entrepreneur. She wears a purple dress.

| Sue Ellen Armstrong — Sue Ellen is an 8 year old cat in third grade. Her father is a diplomat, so her family has lived in various spots around the world. She has interest in world culture, practices Taekwondo, and plays the saxophone. She is now a vegetarian. Sue Ellen was born as an only child, but she keeps in touch with her brother-like pen pal in Tibet. She wears a cream vest over a teal dress.
